7 Ways to Keep a Smile

I am always looking for the positive side of life and the positive things about myself to get me through the hard times where the only thing I want to do is knock myself into a coma with the first blunt object I see. I've learned that you can't be hard on yourself just because things in your life aren't moving along as quickly as you think you should or because life isn't going the way you thought it would. The more positive you are about life the more you will enjoy it and the better it will become. So here are my favorite ways to live life, stay positive and be confident:

1. Always remember how unique you are!
There are a lot of people in this world...some may dare to say a bit to damn many but, either way keep in mind that you are the only person who thinks, creates, moves, and acts like you. Some people may be similar in taste but they will never be exactly like you ( even if they try.)

2. Don't compare yourself!
Don't worry yourself over the popularity or the possessions someone else has because that isn't what life is about. Always remember to be thankful for the people, success, and things you have instead because if you're worried about what everyone else has you'll never see the great things that you have in front of you. You might not realize this but a lot of other people would probably kill 12 cats and a fattened calf to be you and you don't even realize it! so be happy with your life and rock it. Love your clothes, love your look, and love you.

3. Kick negativity to the curb!
Don't be about that negative life style. If you have someone/something in your life that could make riding a rainbow across Narnia a miserable experience just let them go. It might be a bit sucky but trust me there will be better things for you down the road that will light up your life and make the good things better and the bad things worth getting through.

4. Don't forget to take chances!
Now when I say this I don't mean take every chance. Like for instance don't take a chance and meet a guy on Craigslist but do take a chance and ride the mechanical bull down at a local bar. It's all about those fun little experiences that we are all too often afraid to do. Some of them might make for slightly embarrassing stories but, you'll be able to look back, laugh and say you had a great time. You never know when an opportunity may turn into a once in a lifetime one so why not take it.

5. Do what you love!
It is always important to do what you love no matter what anyone thinks about it (unless you're a murderer or something, then i suggest you find a new hobby.) Seriously, no matter how silly it is, if it makes you happy by all means do it. On a bad or gloomy day there is really nothing that can get you back in gear like some down time with a hobby or activity that you're really into. I personally am an avid tea-cup cactus farmer and self proclaimed queen of the craft room... in case you were looking for some new ideas.

6. Not everything is that serious!
Not every little thing is going to turn into the end of the world. It's important to take things one step at a time and not to overwhelm yourself with things that can wait until later. Prioritize what is important and let the other stuff chill for a little. It's kind of the same way with people too. Don't let the opinions of people who don't matter get to you... I know it's a super shocking realization that not everyone likes you but it's true and it's okay because you'll get over it. Seriously, don't sweat it because the great people in your life will make up for the jerks ten fold.

7. Stay thankful!
Life is either a sequence of coincidence, fate, or some divine plan but, either way always remember to be thankful that the universe aligned in such a way that gave you the life that you have today. Even when it doesn't seem like it remember that there are great people who love you and wouldn't want you any other way. The way you are makes you beautiful and no one can take that away from you as long as you stay positive and don't let them. What's yours is you and never forget it!
I hope you enjoyed this and found it somewhat helpful to read if you've felt like you've been in a slump lately. <3 I always find it useful to see what other people do to make their lives happier so I thought I'd share what I do too... Not that you have to take my advice or anything but, it is a bright little suggestion ;)
