The Hunt for the Perfect Liquid Highlight

For whatever reason I like layering my highlighters. I always apply a liquid highlight, set my makeup and then top it off with a powder highlight at the end. I have a few powder highlights that I adore but, I've been on a mission the past few weeks to find a new liquid one because my ever so loved discontinued Smashbox Artificial Light in Flash is almost out - cue many tiny violins playing for my tragic loss. 


I've had quite the struggle finding a highlight that is as perfect for me as the Smashbox one is because I have found that most of them are just not enough or way too over the top. Yet, regardless I have taken it upon myself to painstakingly try out and test the highlighters that I felt like might suit me best. As you could possibly imagine most of them did not work out as planned for one reason or another. Typically I would try one out for a few days to a week possibly with different foundations and powder highlights on top to feel out its highlight-y vibe and then make a decision. Most of them were 'meh' on my complexion but, I think I have narrowed it down. Out of all the ones I have tried I think I'd have to say that the Josie Maran Enlightenment Illuminator and the Becca Moonstone Illuminator are my favorites. They both have lovely ethereal glow to them. Now we are down to this little duel to see who I will commit to and win a place in my everyday makeup routine - I say this like this is a very coveted spot because it is...I own a ton of makeup so theres tons of products to beat out for the spot obvs.
