Personally I don't think the price point of a product has anything to do with whether a product is good or not. I've had some amazing high end products and I've had some not so great ones and the same goes for lower end products. If something works it works and I think it's as simple as that sometimes. If I can save money on a product and still get great quality you bet I'm going to go for it. Throw that extra money I saved to the side to save for a rainy day where I might just use it to splurge on something I really want (like food or some lipstick I clearly don't need.)
I love trying out drugstore makeup because there are constantly fun new things launching and you don't feel as bad when that $6 lipstick doesn't work out like you thought it would. I'd call drugstore makeup shopping guilt free but I can't because I always seem to end up spending more money in the Target beauty isles than I do when I'm shopping at MAC or Sephora. Some of my favorite everyday products are from the drugstore and I am just as loyal to them as I am my high end holy grail products. It just goes to show you that there are great hidden gems hidden all over and that some products should definitely not be overlooked. I put together a list of my everyday drugstore holy grail items just to show a few of my favorite affordable beauty items.
Real Techniques Setting Brush - I mentioned this previously in my favorite makeup brushes post (here) so I obviously couldn't make this post without mentioning it again. This is the best brush I have ever used for setting my under eyes and highlighting. It's fluffy and precise enough to wear it gives me the perfect amount of product exactly where I need it every time.
L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer - I'm a big fan of stick contour products and the medium/deep neutral L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer always does the trick. The color is the perfect contour shade that can be worn alone or layered for the perfect amount of contoured glory. It's pigmented, super easy to blend and it lasts for what seems like an eternity. You can't really beat that.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Spot Eraser - This is a product that I've used that I think really stands up to the hype. It's my favorite under eye concealer/highlight because it's super lightweight and brightening giving you the perfect healthy fresh look. It's like a goodnight's sleep in a tube. No matter how many other concealers I try out I always end up going back to this one.
NYX Pencil Lip Liners - I love these liners because not only are they inexpensive but they have a great color range, impeccable color pay off, and they don't bleed. I don't really know what else you could ask for out of a liner. I prefer the standard pencils over the mechanical ones because I find them to be a little more matte and waxy so they allow my lipsticks to stick a bit better.
L'Oreal 24hr Infallible Lacquer Liner - After being recommended this liner by everyone and their dog I finally caved in and bought this about a year ago and it has been my favorite liner ever since. The formula goes on smooth and opaque and it never smudges. I even use it on my tightline/waterline and it won't budge all day. I've tried a ton of gel liners in the past and this one is hands down one of the best I have ever tried.
There are tons of other drugstore products that I love but these are my holy grail products. Hopefully I'll find some more to add to the list. I'm always on the hunt for amazing new products.
