ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip| Review

Here's to another huge launch that sent a site crashing and left makeup junkies all over the world scrambling and stressing about little liquid lipsticks. I feel like no matter how much a site attempts to "prepare" for a huge launch it never works out quite right. It seems like the amount of people that end up rushing the site are unfathomable to these companies and the servers just aren't ready to keep up with the demand. It also doesn't help that everyone is typically overloading the servers by being on 10 devices at once and constantly refreshing the page (you're just making life harder on yourself and everyone else.) Regardless of the stress I do have to say this launch wasn't nearly as bad as the Morphe Jaclyn Hill Palette launch since it didn't happen at 3 am. I'm not going to say getting these ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips wasn't a nightmare because it totally was but, once again obsessive dedication and patience won out and I got the job done.

I ended up narrowing down the twentyfive choices to six shades- Midi, Trap, Bumble, Limbo, Avenue, and LAX. I got a mix of nudes and dark colors I typically find myself drawn towards depending on the occasion. I can already see myself getting a ton of use out of all the colors I picked up and I'm a little glad I didn't go too over edge picking them out because I could have easily ended up getting all twentyfive shades.

[Left to Right: Midi, Trap, Bumble, Avenue, Limbo, LAX]

Midi - A light soft beige with a touch of pink
Trap - A purpley grey toned beige; "Griege"
Bumble - A dusty terracotta
Avenue - A deep red with yellow undertones
Limbo - A warm chocolate brown
LAX - A vampy oxblood red

The consistency of these ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips is opaque, creamy, and light weight. They glide on easily and dry down to what feels like absolutely nothing on the lips although I do find them to be a tinge dry. Yet, I never felt like they were sticky or cakey which made reapplication and touch-ups a breeze. I also didn't have any issues with these Ultra Matte Lips bleeding or flaking on me throughout the day. Their lasting power is phenomenal (6 to 8 hours) and is virtually transfer proof but, touching up after eating oilier foods is still absolutely necessary. Unlike most liquid lipsticks the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips don't have a real distinct or heavy fragranced smell to them. Overall everything about them is pretty spot on especially for such an affordable $6 product.

If you haven't been able to get your hands on these ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips already I really recommend you jumping on it when they come back in stock. They have a unique shade range but there are also colors that are quite similar to some of the more popular and expensive liquid lipsticks out there on the market right now. There is nothing better than a quality cheap alternative.
