Smashbox Color Correcting Sticks | Review

Now that color correcting has been getting a well overdue revival in the makeup community it seems like every company is jumping on board and creating their own renditions of color correcting products. Seriously the revival of the trend has brought the amount of color correcting products on the shelves from 0 to 100 in what seems like overnight. I can't blink my eyes without seeing a brand new color correcting product launching which is great for people who really want to understand the process and want to find the right product for them.
To no surprise Smashbox Cosmetics has jumped on the color correcting bandwagon and launched four color correcting sticks as an extension and complementary product to their already popular (color correcting) primers. The color correcting sticks come in green - 'Get Less Red', lavender - 'Don't Be Dull', peach - 'Get Less Tired Light', and orange - 'Get Less Tired Dark'. As the names clearly state what each color will do and correct.

  • Green|Get Less Red - Corrects redness in the complexion
  • Lavender|Get Less Dull - Corrects sallowness/yellowness in the complexion
  • Peach|Get Less Tired Light - Corrects dark circles and hyperpigmentation in fairer complexions
  • Orange|Get Less Tired Dark - Corrects dark circles and hyperpigmentation in deeper complexions
The consistency of the pencils are super creamy and easy to blend. They are meant to be used wet or dry using water or the Smashbox Primer Water. Depending on how rich you would like the color pay off to be they can go from sheer to full. Personally I prefer to use them dry because some purposeful placement and a good buff and blend will do the job exactly how you need it without bringing another product into play. They sit well on the skin and as long as you don't go overboard in the application they are super easy to cover for a flawless looking complexion.

I prefer pencil style products like this over a potted corrector for the most part because I find them to be quicker to use and typically a bit lighter in consistency making them a bit easier to work with in my opinion. The pencil design also works well for targeted application which is important when color correcting since you only really want the product over the area of concern. I think they are a great color correcting product for beauty enthusiasts just getting into the color correcting game and I also think that these make a great addition to any artist's makeup kit.
