Tips for Long Lasting Makeup

I feel like one problem everyone has had at least one time in their life is their makeup not lasting long enough or fading off throughout the day. There is nothing more frustrating than leaving the house looking like supermodel and coming back looking like the wax fantom from a Scooby Doo episode. Have no fear though little beauties because there are so many easy ways to prevent it. The key is not skimping on those little important makeup steps and maybe pulling a few tricks out of your sleeve.

I don't think there is any reason your makeup shouldn't last you all day if you want it to. Sure every made up face is going to need a touch up throughout the day but, regardless the way you stumble in the house should be almost as pristine as when left. Keeping your life together is important and your makeup should totally be a part of that. So here is to making your makeup last longer than most people's relationships.

- Always Prime and Set Your Complexion- I think the most skipped out on steps are priming and setting makeup because people don't understand how important it is in making your makeup last. Primers help the longevity of makeup by giving makeup a light layer to stick to while setting powders lock everything into place. These layers are quick to do and are pretty lightweight on the skin so people shouldn't skip them thinking they take too long or that the product will clog their pores. Primers actually help to put a protective layer between your makeup and skincare and many primers and powders are non comedogenic. If your skin is dry you could always opt into using a setting spray instead of a powder to lock in makeup. If you're super oily try baking your powder in areas where you tend to get the most oily.

- Use Setting Sprays in Layers- Setting sprays are meant for more than just setting your makeup. You can use them after your primer and between makeup layers in order to really lock makeup into place. Just make sure when you're working this way you are working in thin layers for the most natural makeup effect.

- Another Setting Spray Tip- You can spray a little setting powder onto any brush before you use a product to increase longevity. This works especially well for powders

- Prime your Lids and Brows- Priming your eyes and eyebrows are just as important as priming your face. Even when I use shadows with built in primers I still use another one just in case so that my colors really stick, don't crease, or fade. I don't always prime my brows since I typically use a waterproof pomade but, priming your brows is extremely important when working with powders so that they don't fade or smudge throughout the day. Following your brows up with a gel is also important for that long lasting fleekness.

- Lock in Mascaras- If you have problems keeping your mascara from running just use a smudge-proof, waterproof, or sealing mascara to lock those lashes into place.

- Use Lipliners or Lip Primers to Leave Lips Bleed Free- If you have issues with your lipstick or gloss running try using an anti-feathering lipliner or primer to lock in the color. Clear lipliners work great for obscure colors and glosses while ones with color are going to give a crisper look with some dimension depending on the color. My favorite liners are the Make Up For Ever ones since they are waterproof.

There are tons of different things you can do to make your makeup last all day. These are just a few little tips and tricks I like to use. I hope they work out for you too!
