Sephora Pantone Color of the Year: Marsala | Eyeshadow Palette Review

So it is finally the beginning of a new year and Sephora and Pantone have launched its new color of the year for 2015. Although they have taken quite a bold approach to color in the past this year they have taken a more neutral approach and honestly I couldn't be any happier. This year's color is Marsala, they consider it a bold nude shade but, basically its a gradation of neutral brick red tones. I think this is an amazing color that has the ability to look gorgeous on all skin tones. I know that red-ish colors in eyeshadows can be intimidating because they have the ability to make you look sick or that you have an infection but if done right with the right tones it is actually gorgeous and one of my favorite shadow colors.

Sephora and Pantone have launched a color of the year line that includes an eyeshadow palette, a multi stick, mascara/ brow highlight, liquid liner, cheek trio, lipstick, and lip layering set. I picked up a few pieces of the set but, today I just want to focus on the eyeshadow kit because I've had a lot of fun playing with it the past few days.

The Marsala Color of the Year palette has 24 colors that includes marsela in four different finishes and 20 complementary colors. The eyeshadow finishes in this palette include matte, pearl, glitter, shimmer, and metallic. All of the eyeshadows are highly pigmented and feel soft and buttery. They glide on smoothly and blend effortlessly. The colors last all day without fading when used with a primer and I haven't had any issues with fall out which is a total bonus in my book. I can't say I think that all of the colors in the palette would look really well with marcela but, they would be gorgeous by themselves or with some of the other colors in the palette. As one would expect there are a lot of warm neutral colors in this palette but there are also a few pops of color which allows you to create both natural and bold eye makeup looks. This palette is a lot smaller than many of the Pantone palettes of the past which isn't necessarily a bad thing because it makes it much more easier to tote around or pop into a makeup bag. It also doesn't hurt that the outside of this packaging is an absolutely stunning rose gold color too bad it attracts fingerprints like a magnet though. Out of all of the pieces from the Marsala Color of the Year line I think this is by far my favorite.
