Agave Hair Oil Treatment & Brush | Review

I'm honestly so proud about how far I've come in taking care of my hair. Personally, having healthy hair despite the fact that it's cherry red is quite the accomplishment for me considering about two years ago I virtually fried it all off by over processing and toning it straight to hell. I realized I could have fun with my hair and maintain it's health if I did it the right way and invested some time and effort into actually taking care of my mane.

Grace and Stella Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Mask | Review

I've been literally dying to dye my hair for months now but, considering that I basically fried half of it off when I decided to go grey and toned it every other week I've been showing some restraint and holding off until I think my hair can handle it. I've done oils, masks, and special shampoos. I've avoided heat on most days and try not to wash it too often. I even went as far as to trim an anxiously large amount of it and ya know things are going pretty well now.

My Current Hair Care Routine

Overall I my hair routine is well... very routine. Within the last few months when it comes to my hair I keep a pretty regimented. I've learned to create a balance for what keeps both my hair and my scalp in line. I would have to say it wasn't until this past year (half way through 2015 to be exact) that I actually started treating my hair with the love and care it deserves. I'm a reformed hair abuser and I'm kind of making up for lost time here. I'm still not super fussy with my hair but I have two hair goals that I am constantly thinking about 1) don't go bald and 2) keep it hydrated.

Beauty Trends I'm All About for 2016

A new year means out with the old and in with the new, right? In this case of makeup trends I think it's a yes and a no because although 2016 is bringing in some new makeup trends they are still staying tried and true to some of last year's staple trends which is great for me because I honestly probably wouldn't have paid much mind to it being an out-dated trend and rocked them anyway. I kind of just always do what I want anyway.

In that being said I just want to sit here and have a little chit chat about makeup trends that I am newly/continually all about. Personally, I don't think that any of these trends are truly new but, I think some of them are getting more perched up on their pedestals than they have ever before.

Shall we just get started?!

Highlighting - Highlighting is as eternal as the glow that it gives you when it is perfectly and strategically placed on your cheek bones. The perfect highlight truly polishes off any look. Highlighting was a strong component of 2015 so I'm glad it's sticking around although I love it so much I would continue to do it regardless.

Color Correcting - Although I'm really not about the high intensity color correcting I see a lot online, I am a big supporter of correcting with purposeful placement. A little bit of color correcting goes a long way and when done right it can really make the complexion look flawless. Color correcting has been around since possibly the beginning of time but only recently has it been given the hype it truly deserves. Until youtubers and instagram famous artists started showing videos of them using correctors, trying to convince someone that they might need to look into using a corrector was like pulling teeth from a hungry lion's mouth.

Bold Liquid Lipsticks - At this point I think everyone should know I support any and all types of liquid lipsticks whether they be bold or not. I do love a good bold liquid lipstick though because uhm, hellooo.... they have an amazing wear to them and you don't have to worry nearly as much if you wear one out for dinner or for drinks. Your lip will stay on almost if not all of the night with minimal touch ups, allowing you to avoid any and all messy lip faux pas.

Messy "Sept in" Hair - Honestly, I will always and forever rock and support this hairstyle because I'm pretty lazy and I rarely do my makeup and my hair... I pick one and it's always makeup. At least I'm honest. It is what it is.

What trends is everyone else stoked for? I'm pretty excited to see what this year has in store.

Friday Favorites | New Hair Saviors

As I have discussed before I have eczema/psoriasis on my head making my scalp and my already dry hair follicles even drier and more weak. Since this issue has progressed I've gotten more and more into haircare in order to calm and alleviate the problem. I also have appointments with a dermatologist but, since it takes so long to get the appointments I have found my own ways of managing and getting by. Sometimes if you want things to get better you just have to take a proactive approach and figure things out for yourself.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer | Review

Ohh another hair product how unexpected and shocking, right? - Yeah, probably not but, still it's here so we might as well have a little chat about it. From the dawning of my birth I have had more tangley hair than I've known what to do with at all. Ever since I was little my mom would drench my hair in detangler when I got out of the shower, typically the Suave one with the octopus on the front, and work through my serious mane. Even when I got old enough to deal with my own hair the process in which I dealt with my hair stayed generally the same or I would just leave it be to be a mess. Fast forward to today, I'm still having the same issues but, now I have found a product even better than my long lost Sauve Octopus detangling friend.

Rolling Out the Royal Treatment with Drybar

With all of my recent hair changes my hair has been seriously suffering so I've taken it upon myself to get more into hair care. I've never owned or tried more than a handful of high-end hair care brands until recently because honestly I just never cared about my hair enough. I'm one of those people who barely styles their hair and people find it to be a miracle when I actually decide to brush it (honestly it just looks better untouched sometimes...right?!) Within the past month or so though I have been going nuts over trying out different hair care products and brands. I've always been a little curious about Drybar since everything about it just smells and looks amazing.

Combating Frizz with Living Proof Humidity Shield | Review

So if you couldn't tell I have a ton of hair. So much hair in fact that if we ever hangout you'll be pulling my hair off of all of your belongings for days (it's how I get people to remember me.) My hair has a mind of its own and it can get pretty big and frizzy if I'm not careful. I can totally deal with the big, I could honestly say that I boarderline enjoy it but, the frizzy business drives me insane because it makes my head look like a bird's nest. I love the summer and the warm weather of the season but the humidity is my enemy and for whatever reason Baltimore/DC has been Florida humid lately. For the past week everytime I walk outside I feel like I've been shoved into a greenhouse that happens to be located on the Sun.

Aveda Goodies

This past week, after countless failed attempts at hanging out, the stars aligned and I finally got to hangout with my friend Sarah. As two humans with recklessly busy lives and hermit esque demeanors this was quite an accomplishment... a somewhat sad one since I should really make more time for friends but, an accomplishment none the less. She had promised to bring me some samples of shampoo she had been telling me about since my hair is in some serious need of nourishment and to my surprise she also brought me some other Aveda goodies from her salon. I couldn't be more excited because not only where they just what I needed in my life but, two of the products are even in my ever so favorite scent of lavender *heart eyes for days.*

How I dye my hair | L'Oreal Excellence HiColor HiLights

A few months ago I decided to go back to 2009 Lexi and dye my hair red again. As you can probably imagine it has been quite the process since black box dye is the enemy of every single person who has ever wanted to change their hair color. I'm completely aware that it was damaging and really the way I dye my hair now is probably just as bad but, whatever it's my hair and I'm not bald yet so I think we are fine. I will admit that I am pretty reckless in the hair department but, someone asked if I would share how I dye my hair so here we are now.
